Launched in 1940, the IVLP is a professional exchange program that seeks to build mutual understanding between the U.S. and other nations through carefully designed short-term visits to the U.S. for current and emerging foreign leaders.

Specific objectives for the project:

Explore best practices in environmentally sound creative urban planning and the design and maintenance of infrastructure systems in urban areas;

Consider methods of collaboration among national and international specialists as a means of furthering the resilience of cities.
Focus: Renewable Energy for Sustainable Development
May 17th – April 22nd, 2024
Country: Georgia
This project will explore U.S. policies and responses to climate change through advances in renewable energy technologies, economic and regulatory incentives, cybersecurity, legislation, public awareness, and changing patterns of energy use. The participants will examine diverse governmental, industry and consumer perspectives on reducing carbon footprints and preparing citizens for climate-related economic and environmental impacts. Additionally, they will learn about the U.S. government and the energy sector’s response to cybersecurity threats.
Focus: Combatting Trafficking in Persons
May 18th - 22nd, 2024
Country: Morocco
This project examines best practices in combating trafficking in persons, focusing on both slave labor and sex trafficking. Participants will examine U.S. legislation, visa regulations, and enforcement against and prosecution of traffickers; initiatives to identify, protect, assist, and provide services for trafficking victims; efforts to raise awareness through the media; and local, national, and international cooperative efforts to combat trafficking in persons. Participants will discuss strategies to end trafficking, both domestically and internationally, with local, state, and federal government agencies, law enforcement officials, educators, NGO leaders, faith-based organizations, and advocacy groups.
