Illustrated Academic WorldQuest globe and quiz podium in Southern Nevada

Southern Nevada students put their global knowledge to the test on February 21, 2026, at WACLV’s regional Academic WorldQuest competition.

A-Tech earns the regional title

Advanced Technologies Academy took first place. The winning team was Olivia Gnakadja, Aidan Ward, Shreya Kurup, and Kylin Lin, coached by teacher Paula Woods. The team went on to represent Southern Nevada at the national Academic WorldQuest event in Washington, D.C., on April 27.

Doral Red Rock High School placed second with Jan Markus, Whit Greer, Brayden Ilar, and Jack Bowler, coached by Wesley Rose. The Meadows School placed third with Georgia Lowry, Elliot Lefebvre, Winston Luh, and Chase Park, coached by Matthew Albert.

Students from Coronado High School, UNLV Upward Bound, and Valley High School also participated, strengthening a regional community of globally curious young leaders.

Why Academic WorldQuest matters

Academic WorldQuest is the World Affairs Councils of America’s flagship youth-education program. Teams study international affairs, geography, history, and current events, then compete in a fast-paced quiz format that rewards both preparation and teamwork.

Congratulations to every student, educator, volunteer, and school that made the 2026 competition possible.
