Citizen Diplomacy in Action: 24-Nation Exchange on Preventing Trafficking in Persons

From March 10–14, 2026, WACLV welcomed a 24-country delegation to Las Vegas through the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program.
A locally grounded global exchange
The project, “Trafficking in Persons: Prevention and Mitigation,” brought professionals from Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America together with Southern Nevada practitioners. Local meetings included the Nevada Policy Council on Human Trafficking, Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, and representatives at Las Vegas City Hall.
The exchange focused on prevention, survivor-centered responses, policy coordination, and the ways government and civil society can work together across jurisdictions.
Citizen diplomacy in action
International exchanges are most valuable when they move in both directions. Visiting leaders gain access to Nevada expertise, while local organizations build relationships with counterparts facing related challenges around the world.

WACLV is grateful to every local host and international participant who contributed expertise, candor, and time to this important exchange.
