On May 28, 2026, WACLV joined the Bertelsmann Foundation and the UNLV International Business Association for an evening conversation on the rules, relationships, and commercial forces shaping activity beyond Earth.

From policy to practice

Held at UNLV’s Philip J. Cohen Theatre, the program brought together moderator Tony Silberfeld and panelists M.C. Sungaila and Rob Lauer. Their discussion connected space policy and law with transatlantic relations and Nevada’s emerging role in the commercial-space economy.

The conversation underscored a practical point: space is no longer a distant or purely scientific domain. Decisions about commerce, security, international cooperation, and law are already affecting communities, companies, and policymakers on the ground.

Connecting Southern Nevada to global questions

Programs like Astropolitics give Southern Nevadans direct access to specialists working across diplomacy, law, technology, and business. They also create a forum where local experience can inform debates that are international in scope.
